The Ask

Prudential approached Droga5 and Use All Five to concept, develop and deploy a game that codifies some of the most crucial stumbling blocks in the process of choosing and taking on a life insurance policy. Everyone knows that life insurance isn’t exactly an incredibly fun topic, and we endeavored to lean into that insight, deflecting some of the pain points and fears associated with the process by targeting personal biases and helping users navigate around the, to choose the best policy for them and their loved ones.

The Action

To participate, players guessed and compared the relative probability of chance occurrences. The game distributed a diverse selection of cards which displayed events such as “Having Your Bike Stolen,” “Death by Vending Machine,” and “Dating a Supermodel.” To win, players had to accurately arrange cards within a spectrum of low to high likelihood. Players then learned that their perceptions of risk are not as realistic as they thought. All of this complex code and design was put into motion to create something that actually helped both culture and company.

The Result

Game of Odds proved a fun and exciting way of teaching readiness for the future. To date, the tool has been engaged with by many thousands of people looking to demystify the purpose of the product and break down perceived risks into a relatively manageable spectrum that left them informed and possibly even… relieved.
